GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER

We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating and going to a new church for the first time can be nerve-racking.
We want to help make your first experience at Old Paths Baptist Church a great one!

We love the fact that you're here and interested in our church. Yet, more importantly,
it is our prayer that this website serves as a tool to point you to God and to experience His love and grace.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

We know that visiting a new church can be overwhelming so here’s what to expect:

THE MUSIC

We seek to exalt God through singing.  It’s okay if you don’t know the songs – we didn’t either when we first started attending!

THE OFFERING

This is a time for OPBC to honor God and show our appreciation of His financial blessings.  We don’t ask anything of you as a visitor.

THE MESSAGE

We pray that the Word of God comes alive for you as you listen to solid and practical Bible preaching.

THE INVITATION

After the message, we invite all to come forward to pray about what God has taught them.  Please feel welcome to come with any needs or questions you may have.

OUR LOCATION

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT KIND OF CHURCH ARE YOU?
We are an active Independent, Fundamental Baptist Church located in Ogden, a residential neighborhood in the south east side of Calgary, AB. We emphasize the preaching and teaching of the Bible that is both instructive and relevant to meet today's ever demanding needs and problems. The music of OPBC reflects an uplifting and Christ  honoring spirit from our song service, our choir and our special music.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN I VISIT?
Our church wants you to feel warm and welcome from the moment you park your car, to the last hand shake.  Our friendly greeters will welcome you as soon as you walk in the door to help guide you to the appropriate services.  We have clean, lovingly staffed nurseries for newborn up to three years of age, as well as a Children's Program for ages 4 through the 5th grade on Wednesday nights.  If you should have any questions while you are with us, our helpful staff at the Information Center is available prior to and after the service.
WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?
We believe that kids should enjoy church every single week - and at OPBC, we make this a priority. The other thing we make a priority is your children’s safety. Because of that, if you arrive a few minutes early for the meeting, you can engage our teachers and nursery workers. You are welcome to sit in on classes with your kids until they and you are comfortable. If you would like to have your children sit with you in the main area, that great too. We have an infant and toddler nursery available during the Sunday School hour, Sunday morning worship, and Wednesday night services.  OPBC offers clean, safe, well-staffed nurseries for infants through three years of age.  Our volunteer staff is ready to make your little one's experience a time of fun and learning. Nurseries are provided for all of our services and special events.
WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO WEAR?
On a Sunday morning you might see some people in a suit and tie, others in a t-shirt and shorts, and a lot of in between.  Please feel free to wear what you’re comfortable in when coming to church.  Our service is about 1 hour and consists of Christ honoring music, the preaching of God’s Word, prayer, and giving.
HOW LONG IS THE SERVICE?
In total, the service is about 60 minutes in length.
AM I SUPPOSED TO GIVE IF I'M NOT A MEMBER?
We want our service to be a gift to you.  We hope you will find a warm and friendly family spirit here, truth from God's Word, and a place where you can grow in God's grace.  Please do not feel any obligation to participate in the offering as a guest.
ARE THERE MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES FOR ME?
OPBC has different ministries and opportunities to serve the Lord.  Although most of our ministries require you to be a member, there are several available to those who are visiting and prayerfully considering membership, such as our community outreach.
HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER?
If you feel that God is leading you to become a member of OPBC, please click here to request a meeting with the Pastor.  Upon meeting with the Pastor, he will discuss with you the matter of your salvation, and the method and motive of your baptism.  You may become a member either by transfer of letter, baptism, or by statement of faith.
